There and back again – we recently returned to Paris once more to scout out the latest trends and quirkiest finds at the Maison et Objet show. We did the same earlier this year to see what would be coming our way in 2018, and it was great insight to huge trends and one-of-a-kind items.
This time, it was yet another incredible trip and we simply couldn’t get enough of it – scroll through for our virtual walkthrough of the show, along with some of our style picks for 2019!
Natural materials seem to be holding strong, with woven light fixtures, baskets and even rattan sofas making up many of the tropical-inspired sets on display.
Keeping with the current love of all things handmade, we also spotted other elements like bold printed ceramics and pillows that would add a modern boho feel at home.
Animal-focused decor is also continuing its streak as fun, versatile favourites in the home – we spotted various critters in a variety of bold finishes, notably a series of sparkly rabbits and gold monkey ornaments that’ll add a bit of charm to any space.
With sweater weather on the horizon, we’re also seeing more comfy rugs and cosy textiles, with velvet coming out on top as the go-to element for major style points.
This soft, luxurious fabric makes an elegant match with dark colours (think royal blue and emerald), but we’re also seeing a plethora of other hues like blush, mustard, and even rich browns that’ll look great in neutral spaces all year round.
And if you’re all about taking cosiness and relaxation to the next level – consider a statement accent chair or even a footstool. We spotted these sheepskin fur pieces that go big on function and fluffiness, just in time (and on-trend!) for winter.
And as ever – it’s all about the details. Finely made chainmail-style curtains and metal pendants channel strong art deco vibes, evoking a sense of vintage glamour.
Ideal for the home office, we are big fans of these peg boards from Opjet Paris which are guaranteed to add a dose of fun.
It looks like the colour blocking trend is here to stay with these two stands. Channel it with the interior style of your choice – go contemporary or opt for a bright retro feel.
We also spotted a lot of delightfully over the top details this year at Maison et Objet. Take a look at this magnificent, fluffy ostrich lighting pieces, and also these wonderfully creepy cats – this feline display from Seletti also had eyes that lit up, making them perfect for Halloween.
The animal theme continues with these ceramic animal hoove glasses that we spotted. Make a statement with these glasses – they’re a definite conversation starter at dinner parties.
We also loved geeking out over these superhero coat hooks, since they were incredibly cute, and were also a great functional item for the home – ideal for children and for the child at heart!
And just like that another year beckons. Which was your favourite look from Maison et Objet 2019? What is your favourite trend you would like to see more of next year? Let us know in the comments.
