The Neo Deco Trend

Say hello to the new decadent interior trend that signals minimalism is on its way out.
Amthal Karim, Head of Design at Furniture And Choice comments:
“After years of ‘less is more’ interiors, minimalism is showing signs of fatigue after being reinvented many times over. We’re craving some drama in our homes, and Neo Deco just might be the trend that ticks all the boxes. Neo Deco is the countertrend of 2026, and it celebrates glamour and sophistication without being pretentious. It has led to this new trend being described as ‘grounded luxury’.
Neo Deco is the modern interpretation of Art Deco style. It takes the glamorous elements of classic Art Deco style, such as luxurious finishes and geometric motifs, and gives them a contemporary touch. Gone are the days of cold greys and sharp lines; we’re now loving deep jewel tones and curved silhouettes.
Neo Deco’s popularity can be highlighted through Pinterest Predicts, which forecasts upcoming trends for the year. More and more people are gravitating towards luxurious yet cosy spaces, and the increase in searches or ‘pins’ saved reflects this. There has been a 40% increase in searches for pendant lamps, 80% for red marble bathrooms, 100% rise for antique bar carts and 35% increase for brass aesthetic and leather banquets. The searches reflect the versatility of this vintage, yet modern aesthetic as Neo Deco can be incorporated not just in the living and dining room, but also if you fancy redecorating your bathroom or hallway. The opportunities are endless!
Geometric elements like fan-shaped shells and chevrons pay homage to Art Deco, while jewel tones like burgundy, emerald and sapphire are top picks to set the mood. Furniture silhouettes are a stylish way to highlight geometric shapes, like a fluted table or bar counter, curved sofas and sideboards. A sculptural coffee table, lamps or mirrors bring out the sophisticated feel and make a glamorous statement.
You may be wondering, what gives Neo Deco that ‘grounded’ feel? It’s all about the textures and materials that you choose. Marble, brass and gold are softened by dark woods, soft velvets and warm leather, which creates a stylish contrast. Aside from jewel tones, warm neutrals or earth tones like ochre, caramel, and brown ground the room and make the space feel relaxed.
Wood is a particularly important element in bringing this interior trend to life. Compared to minimalist interior trends like Scandi style, gravitating towards light oak woods, Neo Deco is all about warm, dramatic woods like walnut, mahogany or teak. Whether as a furniture piece, flooring or wall panelling, wood emphasises the calming, elegant vibe Neo Deco brings that sets it apart from over-the-top interior styles.”
