Top Interior Trends for 2027
Comfort, nostalgia and rich colours are the recipe behind the key interior trends expected to make a big impact for the coming year.
Amthal Karim, Head of Design at Furniture & Choice comments:
“This month, we explore the emerging interior trends that are set to shape décor styles, furniture style, colour palettes, and design silhouettes for the year ahead:
- Organic modern

Organic modern has been trending and is predicted to be one of the key trends as we head into 2027. As a trend, it bridges the gap between warm minimalism and the natural environment with lots of wood, earth tones and soft curves. Expect to see lots of curved furniture and accents for this trend, from rounded sofas and curved armchairs to round coffee tables.
Sofas with low backs and profiles are emerging, softly anchoring the room with their gentle presence. Meanwhile, for the dining room, expect to see lots of wood with natural grain and pops of earth tones for upholstery. When it comes to this trend, there will be lots of layering with natural textures like wood alongside jute and linen.
2. Modern heritage
Modern heritage is a trend that pays homage to the past by incorporating historical or antique elements with contemporary style. It’s about preserving the traditional elements of a space while bringing in contemporary design. This can be updating a living room with a new colour palette while keeping the traditional fireplace or introducing antique lighting to the dining room.
Many designers are predicting that this trend is here to stay as more people learn to appreciate history, craftsmanship and unique pieces. The cold, stark minimalist trend is now very much in the past, and people are looking to add more personal touches to their home. Introducing bold, unexpected hues is one way to jump on this trend, like a terracotta mix of orange and red, or cobalt blue, which is expected to be big next year.
3. Mid-century modern

2027 interiors are all about versatility. Mid-century modern’s love of wood, geometric elements, leather sofas, and tubular furniture leaves plenty of room for experimentation. For the upcoming year, designers are mixing Mid-century modern interiors with other décor styles like Art Deco to add a touch of the unexpected. This can be as simple as introducing vintage lighting or luxe materials like chrome or brass.
The colour palette for mid-century interiors has also evolved with the times. Dark woods like walnut and chocolate brown are now paired with deep green and burgundy tones for a warm, earthy ambience. This makes the home feel more layered and intimate with the sophisticated foundation set in place.
4. Tubular, modular and sculpted
Over the past few years, comfy and cosy silhouettes have been given the avant-garde treatment. The popularity of the ‘cloud couch’ has paved the way for more puffy, modular designs to have their moment at Milan Design Week and High Point x Design. Sofas are getting softer and larger, with comfort being the key element of their design.
Tubular designs, especially for chairs, are also having their moment. Designers have been taking inspiration from the original Bauhaus designs and updating them for the upcoming year. Tubular designs like B-shaped chairs made from chrome steel and leather upholstery bring both nostalgia and evolve with the times.
Sculpted designs, particularly for tables, have also been trending. Blending function and aesthetics, more and more dining tables feature an architectural element that highlights the form and material used.
5. The olive green colour trend

With the popularity of retro interiors and dark woods, it’s no surprise that olive green is having its moment. Olive green is celebrated for its versatility, as it feels right at home as an upholstery pick or as a wall colour. When chosen as upholstery for a sofa or armchair, it highlights the tactile quality of fabrics like velvet and plush fabric. We predict that with the retro trend showing no signs of dying down, there will be lots of olive green sofas and armchairs for the upcoming year.
A lot of designers and paint brands are loving olive green as a wall colour, with more variety to choose from. Depending on the lighting in your room and the right styling, it can appear soft and cosy or a bit moody and subdued.”
