Furniture Choice

We visited the Ideal Home Show 2017 in London’s Olympia exhibition centre. From the innovative 21st century cottage, to Good Homes Magazine pages brought to life, to Great British Bake Off stars, here’s a review of everything we saw at the Ideal Home Show…

Inside The Ideal Home Show

With 208,010 sq ft of inspiration the Ideal Home Show is the largest home show in the world.

21st Century Cottage

One of this year’s show homes is the 21st Century Cottage, styled by the students of Chichester College’s Art & Design Studio. The cottage showcases the interior styles of a family that has relocated from London in order to start a new life in the countryside. The home shows a mix of old and new interior styles blended together to create a warm and inviting home. Here’s a peek at what’s inside…

21st Century Home

An exciting, unusual colour palette in the kitchen proves that a brave choice can be the perfect match for a traditional home. The kitchen is heart of the family home and the injection of this bright colour brings an element of fun to family’s daily life.

Yellow Kitchen

Bold colours continue into the living room where the use of corner sofas provides a cosy environment to relax as a family.

Living Room

A compact dining set completes the fresh and spacious feel of the dining room with an area rug and different colour scheme to partition the space from the kitchen.

Dining Room

Throughout the home the use of textures from luxurious rugs to tactile bedding shows you how layering can be used to add depth and interest to any room. Ingenious storage solutions and specially crafted pieces of furniture lend themselves to the modern country feel.

The feature wall creates a fun talking point in an otherwise practical bathroom.

Good Homes Magazine Roomsets

One of our favourite parts from last year’s show was the Good Homes Magazine Roomsets and we were thrilled to see them back again for another year.

Accents of heather and moody grey set the tone for this refined scheme.

Gorgeous pale grey wall cabinets teamed with anthracite coloured base units, with a hit of jewel-like teal, smart chrome appliances and natural details.

Bathroom Room Set

A bold mix of clean, utilitarian style and black-and-white features make a statement.

Bedroom Room Set

Gentle whites and delicate pinks combine for a calming sanctuary, with a splash of invigorating coral.

Concealed two-space living behind the bed.

Garden Room Set

An urbanite garden with multi-purpose furniture and flooring, cedar-wood fencing and tropical brights.

The Best Of The Rest

The Ideal Home Show isn’t just about Interiors; don’t miss special guests such as George Clarke, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Bake Off winner Candice Brown and of course all of the places to shop and eat.
