We’ve reinterpreted classic country style to a modern, forest-inspired home.

An eclectic combination of modern and vintage pieces is a great way to play with mixing and matching, and updating your home for a new season but it can be challenging to get started. Here are some tips to get going:

One: Combine classic furniture with modern elements

Let your classic furniture take centre stage while adding modern elements for a dynamic look. Contemporary printed cushions accent our Chesterfield corner sofa to contrast with the sofa’s timeless design.

Meanwhile, the side table holds its own with a structural gilded vase as a lovely visual anchor; candles or ornate bottles would also work here.

Two: Experiment with artwork

Sticking to the principles of mixing it up, juxtapose classic and modern artwork for a compelling mix of the old and the new. For a touch of gothic glam, pick out ornate frames - or even mirrors. Three: Add some sparkle and brass

Another unexpected way to spruce up a traditional space is to incorporate some sparkle. Gold and brass are perfect against wooden tables and sideboards as their light, reflective surface serves as a welcome contrast against the darker tones of the room. But you don’t have to limit yourself with the light and dark rule: we also went with a sparkly geode crystal for a nice pop on our white Cavendish table.

Four: Play with textures

Embrace having creature comforts at home with a rug on the floor or a throw across the couch, for a heightened sense of cosiness and leisure. Incorporating different textures to a room greatly adds to its lived-in vibe, working also to soften a structured, rigid room.

Five: Embrace colour

Six: Run with the wild things
