For general cleaning and maintenance, it’s a good idea to dust and vacuum your armchair weekly with the appropriate upholstery attachment, and if the cushion covers are removable, you can easily wash them and slip back on as necessary.

As with all furniture, remove any spills immediately by blotting, not rubbing. Use a clean, soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to remove dirt or body oils. For tougher stains, use a soft cloth with a little non-alkaline, non-detergent soap. Do not use household cleaning products, bleaches, solvent-based cleaners, detergents corrosives, scourers or abrasives which can damage surfaces and upholstery.

Next, you need to check the length of the armchair. If there’s any right angles or obstacles that need to be negotiated, ensure that the armchair can be carried on its end, vertically, while still having height clearance.
